A view of the Rainbow Bridge as it appears today, way above the lake water line.

"The Narrows"
14 x 18 Oil on Canvas This is a great fishing spot right next to the Intake for the power plant. We've caught lots of Stripers there. They blasted this outcropping a few years ago and this rock formation no longer exists, only in my memories & on my canvas.

Artist Biography
As a child born to an Air Force officer in Rome, New York
in 1953, I have lived from there to the beautiful island of Oahu in Hawaii.
Eventually I settled in central Arizona with my husband and daughter in
1989.
I adore the Southwestern United States and the Colorado River Plateau,
which is evident in all of my work. The colors in this desert are distinct,
which I'm constantly perfecting my portrayal on canvas. I spend a lot
of time next to and on the water, fishing and admiring the reflections
of nature. I'm always analyzing contrasts and textures of surfaces and
how they each play a part of the big picture.
I do a lot of photography and work exclusively from my own photos as studies
for my remote and familiar landscapes in oils. Once in a while painting
"en plein aire" to depict the feeling or emotion of a special
scene. Pen and Ink are always at hand for a quick reference. I also enjoy
the fluidity of watercolors and their spontaneous reactions for a different
interpretation.
You'll rarely see evidence of people or their handy work in my art. I
try to recapture the natural world, as it was before we forever changed
it, for the sake of "progress."
I've had an obsession for drawing and painting since I was a child, and
have been painting for some 30 years. However, only in the last few, have
I been working full-time in a studio at my desert oasis. Painting the
landscape is a result of my passion for the outdoors, and my uncontrollable
desire to record it on canvas for all time.
